Can I sue the Wisconsin Department of Revenue? I am thinking of suing the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. Does anyone here know how to do it, preferably without an attorney (at least to start off). Ten points to best answer! Thanks!!! P.S. I know suing any government agency is problematic, and I doubt I may win, but I guarantee I will get somebody's attention with the amount I will be suing for, and that is my main purpose. I intend to sue for negligence, harassment, and incompetence. I have never sued anyone, so I don't think I will get the "frivolous lawsuit" problem. I did what they asked, and they are still hounding me, and I've had it with their incompetence. P.S. Second one is more complete and accurate. P.S.S. I don't owe the money!!! THAT is the problem - I proved it by providing Social Security records AT THEIR REQUEST and they still won't let me go!!! THAT is why I MAY sue them.
Do you hate your state's department of revenue? I hate the Georgia department of Revenue. The people they have working there are not the brightest crayons in the box. I paid a balance owed from 2003 in full in February of this year. My husband had made a mistake in our taxes in 2003 and didn't we didn't catch it until we had them professionally done in 2005. Well, we paid the balance in full in February of 2006 and we paid it online through the Georgia Department of Revenue website. We got a certified letter in the mail Thursday and my husband picked it up from the post office Friday. Would you believe that the Georgia Department of Revenue send us a letter saying that they are going to garnish my husband wages if we don't pay??? We have been on the phone all day with the Georgia Department of Revenue and to no avail. Every time we got someone on the line, they transferred us to some other robot who didn't know his head from a hole in the ground. We don't know what else to do but to keep calling. They close at 4:30 daily

Can the department of revenue suspend my license if i owe them money and don't have a job.? Heres the skinny, i did time in prison and when i got out i was on parole. I had a job but then i got laid off, but even when i had a job i couldn't afford to pay my parole officer the monthly $40 fee. So time went by, i got off parole and im no longer in the system. I got a letter in the mail today from the department of revenue and they told me my license may already be suspended and everything else. What can i do to stop this, please don't tell me to pay the money i owe, because i know that already. i mean i have no job and when i find a job im sure im gonna need my drivers license. Please help.
anyone ever receive a letter from their state department of revenue stating they owe back taxes they dont owe? i received a letter last may stating i owed like $13,00 to the state department of revenue for back taxes and I've never owned anything, hell, i've never made over $15,000 a year in my life, i've always filed my taxes and i've always received both federal and state refunds. i contacted my State Department of Revenue and they told me that I do not personally owe any outstanding taxes.....WTF, ovbiously this is a mistake.....anyone ever experience anything like this before?
yes, it looked like proper Department of Revenue letterhead....? The letter looked absolutely legitimate that's what freaked me out so bad, but when i contacted the State Department of Revenue here in Indiana, they told me I had no outstanding tax liability, i even got an e-mail confirmation. It was weird though cause the letter stated that I could not renew my liquor license because I owed outstanding tax liabilities and that I had a missing return from 1999. I didn't even work in 1999, I was having a child and I was unemployed. Weird huh.....Now of course, I can't find the original letter, but I filed my taxes anyway so I guess we will see what happens. At least I have the attachment the DOR sent with their e-mail to me today saying that I owe no taxes. I saved it of course. I just don't understand how the DOR could make a mistake? I thought we were the one's that weren't perfect, not them......

Do I owe Illinois Department of Revenue money?? I just got a notification in the mail that my state tax forms were filed incorrectly. If I agree to the money due, I owe Illinois an additional $821.36 (which includes late payment and interest). But if I disagree, attach my W-2 as proof and send it in. However, I don't know if I'm right or wrong... My W-2 form has $739.34 in box 17, called State Income Tax. Does that mean I owe them that money or are they wrong in making that change? I don't understand taxes very well...there's gotta be a better system then this. Thanks for your answers!
I recieved a Distraint Warrant and Writ of Execution from the Oregon Department of Revenue? Well today I received a Distraint Warrant and Writ of Execution from the Oregon Department of Revenue that says: "The warrant serves the same function as a court judgment. We use the warrant in collection actions such as garnishment of wages/bank accounts, property seizures, federal tax refund offset, and creation of property liens." I made a mistake and forgot all about owing the state from taxes last year. The soonest I can pay them is this tuesday (I received the notice Friday), I noticed they tried withdrawing out of my bank account but there was nothing in it. They also contacted the bank about it. I left a message on the Revenue Agents phone messages but she won't be in until Monday. Should I be stressing out right now over whether or not someone is going to show up at my house and start taking items? The total owed is $166.04 and whatever fees needed. How do I go about taking care of this? Do I go to the Department of revenue and pay them and that takes care of it all? Please help me, i've never had to deal with something like this before. Also i live with my parents right now as I go to school (I'm 21). I live in Washington but work in Oregon (which is why i owe to Oregon Tax) would that account for anything? I just don't want them to show up at my house. I'm not really wanting to take any legal action, it's my fault for being late and I wanna take care of it and move on. I'm trying to take control of my life and get back on task.
If you sell on eBay, what do you have to declare on your state's Department of Revenue Sales Tax Return? I have a business license & a sales tax ID. I only sold two items on eBay from buyers in the state I live in and all other sales were from buyers out of state. If I only collected sales tax from these two sales that were in my state, do I only put these sales as income on my state's Department of Revenue Sales Tax Return, or do I have to put all the income made even the ones made to buyers out the state I live in? Is there a website for eBay sellers that explains all this? Thanks
Accountants...Department of Revenue Tax Question... ? We are a flooring sub-contractor, we use the wholeselling tax code when we pay our monthly DOR tax because we only perform installation that we recieve from a shop who works with the builder. This month things have changed we are working straight with the builder, what tax code would i use for that? Also, we are selling them merchandise? Am i supposed to report the whole amount of the merchandise sale or just the profit amount (After i deduct my Cost of Goods)? Thank you
so i got a letter from the department of revenue...help!? i was trying to apply for a bussiness, or to verify with the state/city or a business i wanted to start. the letter, more detailed, is from a commissioner and the taxpayer services division regristration and licencing unit. it says i have a witholding # and that i am a quarterly filer. it also talks of a cupon booklet to be used for my witholding payments. this sounds bad to me... what am i in? is it bad. this was also like 2 years ago. i got no cupon booklet and haven't heard anything of it.
Massachusetts Department of Revenue Saying I owe taxes from previous years? I have received Massachusetts State Tax Refunds my whole life. Last years return (for the year of 2007) I received $213.00. This year I was only scheduled to received $90.00 back in taxes, but non the less I was due a refund. Now today I received a letter from the Massachusetts DOR, saying that they took my $90.00 refund and applied it to an income tax liability of $227.00 from 12/31/2007? What the hell is this? What would cause this? Of course it's a Saturday and I can't get ahold of these crooks. Please help!
Can the Georgia Department of Revenue collect a 9 year old state tax that they can't prove? I purchased a brand new 2000 Mazda 626 back in May of 2000 in the state of Tennessee. I purchased it from my brother in law who was a sales man there at the time, but no longer works there. Because I couldn't afford to pay the sales tax out of pocket in the state of Georgia, (Where I was a resident and got the car registered after purchase), they included the sales tax to forward on to Georgia in my car deal. Now, 9 years later, a tax lien has showed up on my credit report for the outstanding sales tax. I can't prove that it was paid because the car dealership isn't required to keep paperwork past 7 years. (I already called!) They can't prove anything either. The only thing they are doing to come up with a figure I owe of $3488, is by taking "The fair market value" of the car back in 2000 and charging interest and penalties on it for 9 years. They also aren't giving me any credit for the $4000 trade in that I had which would offset the amount of taxes I would owe. What do I do when I can't prove it???
Offer In Compromise, North Carolina Department of Revenue? The NCDOR wants to collect $18,000 in taxes and penalties. I am a student, with 2 and a half years of school left. I currently have $4000 in credit card debt, $5,000 in student loans and counting. I also owe about $11,000 for a bike that is now worth about $6,000. I own a car that's worth about $3,500 and I'm currently unemployed and living off of grants, scholarships and loans. Assuming that I am eligible, what would be an appropriate offer in compromise that the NCDOR would accept on this $18,000 debt.
When can someone get off of probation if they have already paid their Department of Revenue fines? My boyfriend is on probation for felony charges. He is almost done paying his fees, and has had perfect visitations with the probation officers. He is elligible to have it reduced to a misdeameanor. The problem is, he just got transferred to a NEW officer who is very unhelpful and rude. She will not give him a straight answer. My questions are: 1.) Once his fees are paid in June, is he elligible to have the crime reduced to a misdeameanor? 2.) We have contacted his attorney several times in the last month to get answers to these questions and have not got ONE returned call. What should we do?! I appreciate any and all wisdom.
Has anyone ever had an offset of your tax refund from the Louisiana department of Revenue? the irs website updated today and it said my tax refund was suppose to be deposited on 1/23/09 and if it wasn't to call by 1/28/09 and so i called the 18003043107 to check for offsets and that is when i learned it had been. I just want to know how long it takes the state to deposit after they have gotten their money. Which turns out to be only $100 that i forgot about, so it is my fault for not taking care of my business. On the Louisiana Dept of Revenue website it says that it will take 28 days for me to get my refund is that accurate-in real dire need just in case someone else is having the same problem i contacted the offset treasury department and the lady said that is not true all transactions are done on the same day so the $100 will be sent to the state and the treasury will send out the rest of my refund-hope this saves someone from waiting on the phone for an our to get an answer from the state and the irs

How long for a state refund in georgia? I live in georgia. My husband and I filed our taxes about a week ago. Both state and federal have already been accepted the day of filing. My question is for those living in georgia. If you already filed for state and chose direct deposit, did you receive your refund already? and if so how long did it take? The department of revenue site has no information, and the money is needed because I have a sick daughter and we have doctor bills to pay. Please help?!
How many people have been unfairly treated by civil servants in the UK? Civil servants here means those working for the Inland Revenue, Department of Work and Pensions, and other UK Government departments. Unfairly treated means denied something you were entitled to due to either 'rules' or a 'decision maker' which lead to you losing money, being put in difficult circumstances, and so on.
What is the penalty for filing state taxes late? I filed both my federal and state taxes online using Turbo Tax. I recently needed a copy of my state return for school and I went back to the site to find out that my state return had not gone through. I'm mailing a copy to the Department of Revenue today, but was wondering what penalties do they have for not filing on time? I was expecting a refund, so I'm hoping it's not that big of a deal. Any ideas?
