1. not sure, google it. i would assume it would be similiar to typical British colonialism, where they would build up trade networks to round up raw materials... ship them to england to be finished and then sell them to other countries or colonies at a much higher premium than the goods cost to produce, mine, or grow. they probably took a good amount of precious stones and artifacts if memory serves
